Packaging For Light Bulbs
Cartons with molded inserts that protect bulbs.
A bulb is fragile and oddly shaped, so the box needs a molded insert that cradles it and absorbs shock. We build the carton and insert to your bulb.
Print it full-color with clear specs on the panel.
- Molded pulp or board insert
- Cushions a fragile bulb
- Spec panel print
- Sized to your bulb
“Our cakes travel 40 minutes across town and arrive looking like they left the counter. The window boxes sell them before anyone opens the lid.”
“The bracelet boxes with the foil logo changed how our pieces photograph. Customers post the box as much as the jewelry.”
A product that announces its own breakage
Nothing tells a customer their order failed like the rattle of broken glass in an unopened box. Bulbs combine thin glass, odd geometry and a weight concentrated at the base, and the packaging answer is a molded cradle: an insert that suspends the bulb by its neck and base, glass touching nothing, so drops and compression spend themselves on the carton and insert instead of the envelope of the bulb.
Molded pulp and die-cut board both do the cradling; pulp wins at volume and on waste-stream messaging, board wins on short-run flexibility, the same trade covered on our inserts page.
The spec panel is the salesman
Bulbs are bought by specification: wattage equivalence, lumens, color temperature, base type, dimmability. The carton face is where that decision happens, usually at arm's length in an aisle or a scroll, so we template a spec panel that reads at a glance: big lumen number, kelvin scale graphic, base callout. Decorative and filament bulbs flip the logic, a window carton shows the bulb itself, because for those the glass is the product.
Formats across a range
Single cartons, 2, 4 and 6-packs with divided inserts, and contractor multipacks all run on shared design grids so the range shelves as a family. E-commerce adds the outer question: single cartons need a fitted shipper with clearance, and we build carton-plus-shipper as one tolerance chain. Retail hang-tab variants cover pegboard placement, borrowing from hanging-tab boxes.
Can you match an existing bulb carton size?
Yes, send the bulb and the current carton; we reverse-engineer the fit and usually tighten it, looser cartons are the most common cause of transit failure we see in this category.
