Corrugated boxes built to the spec your product actually needs

Two boxes look identical on the outside and cost the same. One arrives intact after a 2,000-mile trip; the other shows up dented with the product loose inside. The difference is the flute and the crush rating, the parts of a corrugated box nobody sees and everybody relies on. Spec the board correctly and the box becomes invisible in the best way: it just works, every shipment, and your product shows up the way you sent it.

Corrugated boxes are the fluted-cardboard boxes that move almost everything. Between two flat liners sits a wavy fluted layer that gives the board its strength and cushioning while keeping it light. That structure is why corrugated outperforms solid cardboard for shipping, and why it is the most-used shipping and packaging material on earth.

Who uses corrugated boxes

Manufacturers shipping product to distributors, ecommerce brands shipping to customers, warehouses moving master cartons, food and beverage companies, electronics makers, furniture sellers, and anyone fulfilling orders at volume. Corrugated covers the whole range from a small retail mailer up to heavy double-wall freight cartons. If something needs to survive a truck, a corrugated box is almost always what it travels in.

Small businesses often start with generic boxes and quickly find the sizes are wrong and the strength is hit-or-miss. Custom corrugated boxes fix both: the right dimensions for the product and the right flute for the weight, printed with your brand so the delivery is not anonymous.

Materials and flute construction

The flute profile is the core decision. Each profile trades thickness, strength, and print quality differently:

  • E-flute: thin (about 1.5mm), smooth, best for retail boxes and fine print
  • B-flute: a versatile all-rounder, good crush resistance with a flat enough surface to print
  • C-flute: taller flute, more cushioning, the common general-shipping choice
  • Double-wall (BC or EB): two flute layers laminated together for heavy, freight-grade loads

Our standard is a 275# B-flute that is crush-tested, which handles most products. For heavy or stacked freight, double-wall corrugated adds the strength to take the weight without crushing. Board comes in natural kraft or bright white, and we match the flute to the weight you send us so you do not over-spec or under-spec.

Sizes and how to choose

Right-sizing a corrugated box saves money twice: less material and lower dimensional-weight shipping cost. Measure the product, add a half inch per side for fill, and choose the closest size up. Our standard footprints run 6×4×2 in, 9×6×3 in, 12×9×4 in, and 15×12×5 in, and we cut custom corrugated packaging to any dimension for odd-shaped or oversized products.

The most common style is the RSC (regular slotted container), where the flaps meet and tape shut. We also make die-cut mailers, full-overlap boxes for extra bottom strength, and corrugated trays. Send the product and we will recommend the style and size.

Printing and finishes

Print your logo and brand color directly on the corrugate. A one-color flexo print on kraft is the most economical and reads as honest and practical. For maximum impact, full-color litho-laminated print gives photo-quality graphics across the whole box. Most shipping cartons skip laminates and foils, since the box is meant to take abuse and premium finishes add cost without surviving transit. Save those for the retail packaging inside.

Minimum order, turnaround, and how ordering works

The minimum is 30 units. Most corrugated suppliers and box companies near you will not run a custom print under several hundred boxes, so a 30-unit floor is built for small businesses, test runs, and seasonal needs. You can order exactly what you need now and reorder as you grow.

Turnaround is about 10 days from approved artwork. Send your dimensions and artwork, we return a free dieline and proof, you approve, and we print and ship. Custom printed corrugated boxes start at an economical per-unit price that drops with quantity, so bulk corrugated boxes and wholesale runs of 1,000 or 5,000 reach a genuinely low cost per box.

Sustainability

Corrugated is one of the most recycled materials anywhere. It is made with recycled content, is curbside-recyclable, and we print with water-based inks. For a fully recycled, FSC-certified version with the same crush rating, look at our eco shipping boxes. For the branded retail box that travels inside the corrugated outer, see our mailer boxes.

Frequently asked questions

Do you make custom corrugated boxes near me?

We ship custom corrugated boxes nationwide, so you do not need a local box company. Send your specs and we print and deliver, usually in about 10 days.

Can I order bulk corrugated boxes at a wholesale price?

Yes. Per-unit pricing drops as quantity rises, so bulk runs of 1,000 or 5,000 reach wholesale rates while staying fully custom.

What flute do I need?

It depends on the weight and fragility of your product. E and B-flute suit light retail items, C-flute is the general-shipping standard, and double-wall handles heavy freight. Send us the weight and we match it.

Do you offer custom printed corrugated boxes in small quantities?

Yes, from 30 units, which is far below most suppliers' minimums. That makes it practical to print a small branded run for a launch or a seasonal order.

Can you make custom corrugated mailer boxes?

We do. A die-cut corrugated mailer gives you the strength of corrugated with the clean, tape-free open of a mailer box.

What does the crush rating actually mean?

It is the pressure the board can take before it gives out, which matters for stacking on a pallet and surviving handling. A 275# B-flute carries most products; heavier or stacked freight needs a higher rating or double-wall board.

Choosing a box style

Beyond the flute, the box style affects strength and cost. The RSC is the economical default and suits most products. A full-overlap box doubles the bottom flaps for extra strength under heavy contents. A die-cut mailer trades some strength for a cleaner open and better print surface. A corrugated tray works for produce or display. Tell us the weight, how the boxes will be stacked, and how the customer opens them, and we will recommend the style that protects the product without paying for board you do not need. Matching the style to the job is as important as matching the flute.
