Large Cake Boxes
Big sturdy cake boxes for tiered and sheet cakes.
A big cake is heavy and the box has to carry it flat without bowing. We build large boxes with a reinforced base and extra height for tiers.
Grease-resistant, food-safe, printed for the bakery.
- Reinforced base carries weight
- Extra height for tiers
- Grease-resistant board
- Printed or white
“Our cakes travel 40 minutes across town and arrive looking like they left the counter. The window boxes sell them before anyone opens the lid.”
“The free dieline saved us. Our first supplier wanted $400 for structural work; here it came with the quote, and the sample folded perfectly first try.”
Big cakes fail boxes, not the other way around
A three-tier celebration cake can weigh over ten kilos, and it pushes a box in ways a cupcake never will: the base wants to bow, the walls want to lean, and one bow or lean transfers straight into buttercream. Our large formats are built against that physics, a doubled or corrugated-reinforced base panel that stays flat under load, and wall scores that keep corners square when the box is lifted from the sides, which is how everyone actually carries a cake.
Height is the other half
Tiered and decorated cakes die by lid contact. We build height variants that clear tall tiers, sugar flowers and toppers with margin, because a lid that grazes the top tier at the doorstep undoes a day of work. Window lids show the cake without opening; full-board lids protect better in stacked delivery vans. Handle-format boxes carry smaller heavy cakes; tiered wedding work rides flat, board-under-cake, in a box that opens from the side so the cake slides rather than lifts.
For cheesecakes and dense single-layer bakes, the snug-fit logic on our cheesecake box page is the better spec; for slices and pastries, dessert boxes.
Bakery practicalities
All formats fold flat and store compactly, then assemble at the counter. Food-safe, grease-resistant board comes in white or kraft, printed for chains or plain-plus-sticker for independents. One operational tip from the trade: order the next size up from what feels right, decorators always want the clearance, and a slightly roomy box beats a scraped tier every weekend.
What sizes do you stock?
Bases from 10 to 16 inches square with heights to 12 inches, plus custom sizes for sculpted and multi-tier work. Send your heaviest regular cake and we spec the base to it.
