Black Mylar Bags
Matte black mylar pouches with a premium, opaque look.
Black mylar reads premium and blocks light completely, which matters for coffee, supplements, and anything that degrades in daylight. The matte finish hides fingerprints.

We print full-color on the black and fit a resealable zip.
“Low minimums were the whole reason we tried them. 250 pouches to test a flavor, then 5,000 when it took off — same bag, same print, no drama.”
“Labels that survive a fridge, an ice bath, and a farmers market summer. We tested four suppliers; these were the only ones that did not lift.”
Black is a spec, not just a look
Matte black mylar became the premium default for two reasons that have nothing to do with fashion. Total opacity: light degrades coffee, herbs, supplements and most botanicals, and a true black film blocks it completely, no grey shadows at the seams. And camouflage: matte black hides fingerprints, scuffs and shelf wear that show on gloss white within a week. The bag that still looks new in month three is usually the black one.
Underneath, the build is a full high-barrier laminate with a press-to-close zipper and heat-sealable base, the same construction as the rest of our mylar range.
Printing on black
Black flips the design rules. CMYK alone disappears on a black substrate, so artwork prints over a white ink underbase, laid only where the design needs it, which produces a striking effect: colors floating on black with no background box. The strongest looks in the category are restrained, a single metallic gold or silver mark, white typography, spot-gloss patterns that only appear when the bag catches light. Spot UV on matte black is the trick that photographs best.
Send artwork built for white and prepress will convert it honestly, including telling you which subtle gradients will not survive.
Who runs black
Coffee roasters chasing a modern shelf presence, supplement brands signaling potency, and herb and botanical brands where the smell-proof variant with child-resistant zippers covers compliance markets. Sizes run the standard 4 oz to 16 oz retail range plus bulk formats.
Is matte black more expensive than standard films?
Marginally, and the white underbase adds a print pass. Against the shelf-life and shelf-wear gains, most brands consider the difference invisible in the unit economics.
