Where the unit price actually drops
Mylar bag pricing has two cliffs. The first is at a few thousand units, where digital printing saturates its efficiency and per-bag cost settles. The second, bigger cliff is at plate-print volumes, ten thousand and up, where rotogravure or flexo takes over and the unit price can halve. Wholesale buying is about getting to the second cliff without warehousing a year of stock in your garage.

The spec does not degrade at volume
A wholesale order gets the same construction as a sample run: multi-layer barrier film with a metallised or foil core, press-to-close zipper, tear notch, and heat-sealable bottom. Matte, gloss and soft-touch finishes all carry through. What changes at plate volumes is capability, not quality; spot colors, metallic inks and registered matte-gloss zones become affordable in a way they are not digitally.
Start small to validate the design, then scale the identical bag. Nothing about the artwork or the food-contact rating changes between a 500-unit digital run and a 50,000-unit plate run.
Mixed sizes and standing programs
Wholesale programs usually span sizes, and we price the program rather than each SKU: 4 oz to 16 oz retail sizes plus bulk formats can share a production window. Take your fastest-moving size, cover six months of sales, and hold the artwork with us. Reorders skip setup entirely, so a leaner reorder cadence beats one enormous buy.
