Compliance is the product spec
In licensed cannabis markets, the box is a regulatory document before it is a brand asset. Child-resistant functionality, state-mandated warning symbols and text at prescribed sizes, THC content declarations, batch and testing traceability, opacity rules in some states, every element specified in law, varying by state, and audited at retail. We build CR cartons to the target state's requirements and reserve every mandated zone in the artwork template before design begins, because retrofitting compliance onto finished art is the category's most expensive mistake.
Child resistance that still displays
The standard mechanisms are push-and-slide sleeves and squeeze-release cartons: certified CR, yet slim enough for the display case and repeatable for adult hands. Inside, a die-cut insert holds the pen or cartridge still and centered, half-gram and full-gram carts each get their own die, and battery-plus-cart kit layouts follow the same logic as our broader vape pen boxes. Brand inside the rules
The regulated zones take real estate, but the remaining canvas rewards discipline: matte black or deep-color fields, one strong mark, foil or spot gloss used once. Dispensary shelves are dense and dim; finishes that catch case lighting outperform busy artwork. Strain and potency variants run on one structural template with a swappable color band, keeping compliance review to a single approved layout.
