“Our takeout boxes stopped leaking and started advertising. Grease-proof board plus one bold color on kraft — simple and it works.”
“Labels that survive a fridge, an ice bath, and a farmers market summer. We tested four suppliers; these were the only ones that did not lift.”
Kraft is the healthy-food uniform
Salad bars, poke shops, grain-bowl brands and farm-to-table cafes converge on kraft for a reason: the unbleached brown board makes the same claim their menu makes, natural, unprocessed, nothing hidden. A bright white clamshell says fast food; the identical structure in kraft says fresh. Packaging psychology rarely gets this cheap.
Underneath the signal is a working spec: grease-resistant board and food-safe inks that handle hot, oily and dressed foods without bleed-through or off-flavors.
The format family
Leak-resistant fold-up boxes (the noodle-box and bowl family) carry wet and dressed meals; hinged clamshells serve burgers, wraps and sides; open trays suit counter service. Sizes run snack to family. The fold-up formats ship flat and erect in seconds without glue, and their locked corners hold sauced dishes through a delivery bag, the make-or-break test for anything leaving the shop on a bike. Window versions show salads and bowls where the ingredients are the marketing.
Compostable coating options replace the standard moisture barrier where your waste-stream claim requires it; we will be straight about which claim each spec supports.
Print that keeps the kraft
The material is the message, so the strongest kraft printing is restrained: one or two ink colors, generous bare board, a stamp-style logo. Full-coverage print on kraft mostly defeats the point, and costs more. A sticker on plain stock is the entry route for independents, with printed runs at chain volume; the wider takeout family, pails and catering formats, lives under Chinese food boxes and catering boxes.
Are the boxes microwave-safe?
The unlined and compostable-lined builds reheat fine for typical takeout durations. Tell us your menu's reheat expectations and the liner spec follows.
