A Detroit pie is square, thick and baked in a steel pan, so a round pizza box does not fit it. These boxes are cut square and deep, with the headroom a tall pan pizza needs.
Vent holes let steam out so the crust stays crisp on the drive, and the lid prints full-color for the brand and the order details.

A square pie needs a square box
Detroit-style pizza is baked in a steel pan, comes out square or rectangular, and runs thick, with a tall, cheese-crusted edge. A standard round pizza box fits it badly: the corners get crushed, the lid sits on the cheese, and the crust steams soft on the way home. The fix is a box cut for the pie, square and deep.
These boxes have the footprint of the pan and the headroom of a tall slice, so the lid never touches the top.
Keeping the crust crisp
Steam is the enemy of a good crust. Trap it under a flat lid and the crisp edge Detroit pizza is known for turns to cardboard by the second mile of the drive. Vent holes let the steam escape while the box still holds heat, so the pie arrives close to how it left the oven.
The board is grease-resistant so the bottom doesn't go translucent and weak under a buttery, oily pan crust.
