Bagasse is the foam replacement that works
Foam containers are banned in more places every year, and flimsy paper goes soggy under hot food. Bagasse solves both: it is a sturdy molded fiber that shrugs off heat and grease like foam did, but it is made from a sugarcane byproduct and breaks down in a compost setting. For a cafe switching away from plastic, it is the closest like-for-like.
Keep the whole box compostable
The box is only as compostable as its weakest part, so the inks matter. Printing with soy-based inks keeps the finished box fully compostable, where some standard inks and coatings do not. If the green claim is the point, spec the inks to match.

Is it home or industrial compostable?
