A hinged lid stays put. Flip it open and it folds back like a watch case or a keepsake box, so there is no separate lid to misplace.

Add a magnetic catch and a fitted insert and the box becomes part of how people store the product.

A lid that cannot get lost

The hinge is the point. Watch cases, pen boxes and heirloom packaging all share it, because the lid folding back on itself turns the box into a stand: the product presents at an angle while the lid holds position behind it. Nothing to set aside, nothing to misplace, and the box goes from packaging to permanent storage without the customer thinking about it.

We build the hinge from the wrap paper itself over a scored greyboard spine, the same construction bookbinders use. It survives years of daily opening; the failure mode of cheap hinged boxes is a wrap that cracks at the fold line, and the fix is simply specifying wrap stock heavy enough for the job, which we do by default.

Catches: magnetic, ribbon or friction

A magnetic catch gives the box a soft snap and is the right default. A ribbon tie reads gift-first and suits wedding and keepsake work. Friction-fit lids with no catch at all keep the face of the box clean for minimal brands. If you are unsure, order the sample kit; the difference is easier felt than described.

What goes inside decides the build

Tell us the object before we quote. A watch wants a padded pillow and a deeper base. A pen sits in a flocked tray with a finger cutout. Jewelry needs a slotted pad and a lid lining so the piece never touches bare board. We cut all of these in-house, and the interior lining color is yours to pick, same as on our book-style boxes.

Before you order

Can the lid stand at 90 degrees instead of folding back?

Yes. We set the hinge stop wherever you want the presentation angle; 100 to 110 degrees is the usual pick for counter display.

Does the hinge weaken at large sizes?

Above roughly 35 cm wide we reinforce the spine with a second board layer. It adds little cost and keeps a big lid from twisting.
